Jeg leser sjeldent samme bok flere ganger, og ser uhyre sjelden samme film om igjen. Noen bøker har likevel den egenskapen at jeg ikke føler meg "ferdig" med dem. Ofte fordi de er det jeg kaller løk-bøker, altså at de har flere lag. Andre ganger fordi jeg føler jeg gikk glipp av noe - særlig spennende kan det være å lese starten på en bok om igjen når en er litt mer kjent med bokas karakterer fra før slik at en legger merke til andre aspekter ved boka enn første gang en leste og måtte konsentrere seg om å få med seg alt.

Og så er det de bøkene man tenker på lenge etter å ha lagt dem bort. Og bøker man husker følelsen i magen av, uten at handlingen nødvendigvis er klar. Sist men ikke minst finnes nostalgi - bøkene - bøker man liker på grunn av sammenhengen og omgivelsene de ble lest i, bøker man har positive assosiasjoner til, ofte på grunn av sine egne ytre omgivelser fra første gang man leste boka heller enn til bokas handling (F. Eks SVK av Roald Dahl - husker jeg leste den på hyttetur i Sirdal i 1998, husker mamma og pappas stemmer fra stua, husker peisens varme som hang igjen i kinnene mine da jeg la meg... Selve boka husker jeg ikke fullt så godt.. Men alt dette rundt er klokkeklar og gjør at jeg får gode assosiasjoner til boka.)
