Bøker hvor hovedpersonen, eller minst en av flere karakterer, er godt voksen i form av pensjonert. Ofte er disse karakterene ensomme og/eller gretne, andre ganger er de mer nysgjerrige og litt utenfor tidens forventninger om "normal" sosial atferd. Andre ganger er de bare gamle. Felles for disse bøkene, er imidlertid at jeg fant noe sjarmerende ved karakterene eller boka som helhet
