The Qur'an says, "No compulsion in religion" (2:256), but it also calls on Muslims to fight the people of the Book until they are humble and pay jizya, a special tax (9:29).

Luk 10:10-12

The Singer:
But you, who have listened to the story of the Chalk
Circle
Take note of the meaning of the ancient song:
That what there is shall belong to those who are good for
it, thus
The children to the maternal, that they thrives;
The carriages to good drivers, that they are driven well;
And the valley to the waterers, thus it shall bear fruit.

The Singer:
Listen now to what the angry girl thought, but didn't say. (He sings)

He who wears the shoes of gold
Tramples on the weak and old
Does evil all day long
And mocks at wrong.

O to carry as one's own
Heavy is the heart of stone.
The power to do ill
Wears out the will.

Hunger he will dread
Not thouse who go unfed:
Fear the fall of night
But not the light.

The Singer:
The Ironshirts took the child away, the preacious child.
The unhappy girl followed them to the city, the dangerous place.
The real mother demanded the child back. The foster mother faced the trial.
Who will try the case, on whom will the child be bestowed?
Who will be the Judge? A good one, a bad one?
The city was in flames. On the Judgment Seat sat Azdak.

"However", Norry said, raising a slender finger. "I have reason to belive that Duhara Sedai may have had a hand in the document you seem to be treating with... um... unusual reverence." He glanced at the pages Elayne had tossed to the floor. One bore the distinct outline of her shoe.

The air smelled good - of ale, smoke, and of the washcloth that had recently wiped the counter. He liked that. There was something calming about a good, rowdy tavern that was also kept clean. Well, clean as was reasonable, anyway. Nobody liked a tavern that was too clean. That made a place feel new. Like a coat that had never been worn or a pipe that had never been smoked.

Romeo:

My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me, That I must love a loathed enemy.

They're just like the old aristocracy! Kings sitting up to their ears in cabbage. And the simple people are trash. A herd of sheep that are good for shearing, but sometimes it's more profitable to slaughter them. Nothing's changed.

"But even so, you're not right," he replied more calmly. "Logic does exist, of course, yes… But if you compare things with the Middle Ages, then morality has definitely advanced."

"Don't be ridiculous!" I said, shaking my head. "How has it advanced?… Even in the wars back then they had a strict code of honour. A war then was a real war, and kings fought with their armies, risking their thrones and their heads. And now? A big country wants to put pressure on a little one, so it bombs it for three months and gets rid of its outdated armaments at the same time. Not even the soldiers risk their lives! It's the same as if you drove up onto the sidewalk and started knocking down pedestrians like bowling pins."

I saw an old woman in a window. The shadow of death was already hovering over her, she could probably sense it herself. But she was still smiling. Her grandson had come around to see her that day. Probably only to check if his grandmother were still alive, or if the expensive apartment in the center of Moscow were free now. She understood that too, but she was still happy. I felt ashamed, but I touched her and took a little Power. A fading orange and yellow bouquet of asters and autumn leaves...
