My heart serene,
I set out
for the western skies
Returning thanks
for life, I turn back and bow
eastward
Clear sky -
the way I came by once
I now go back by
Throughout the frosty night
I lay awake. When morning bells
rang out, my heart grew clear -
upon this fleeting dream-world
dawn is waking
Like a rotten log
half-buried in the ground -
my life, which
has not flowered, comes
to this sad end
Lost in wine, I did not notice dusk descending
Petals dropped and piled up on my robe
Drunk, I rise and walk the moonlit valley
The birds have gone, and people too are few
