I enjoyed reading this book - A very good beginning to a series by Peter May.
One of the main character is Margaret Campbell who is a Chicago forensic pathologist and has been invited by the Chinese government to teach at the Beijing police university. She has accepted a six-week assignment with little preparation but is desperate to escape a troubled life in America. She pairs up with Li Yan a newly promoted detective who requires Margaret to examine a horribly burned corpse. Margaret and Li must bury their personal and cultural differences when they uncover a conspiracy that threatens not only their lives, but the lives of millions.
I have been to Beijing so it was quite amusing beiing able to follow investigators through streets, parks, shops and places I have visited during my stay in China i 1992, 2001, 2004 and 2010.
