On July 28, 1998 the Modern Library's Editorial Board announced their selection of the "100 best english-language novels of the twentieth century" The Modern Library is a division of Random House that has published classic literature since 1917. The novels which made the list, however, were chosen regardless of publisher. The list that follows is given in rank order with James Joyce's Ulysses garnering the most support.

Vel, det er jo egentlig ikke verre enn at man kan kopiere teksten til et dokument, og så skrive det ut på den måten. Ofte har listemakeren lagt ved en lenke til originallisten også, noe som også gjør at det blir enkelt å skrive ut. Listefunksjonen har dessuten flere ulike fordeler, for eksempel kan man finne igjen listen fra de ulike boksidene. Jeg ser vel heller ikke helt poenget med å ha flere identiske lister.
