I believe in the existence of worlds superior to our own and in the inhabitants of those worlds, in experiences of varying degrees of spirituality, growing in subtlety until a Supreme Being is reached, who presumably created this world. It is possible that there are other Beings, equally Supreme, who may have created other universes, and that those universes coexist with our own, in interpenetrating manner or otherwise. For these reasons, and others still, the External Order of Occultism, that is Freemasonry, avoids (with the exception of Anglo-Saxon Freemasonry) the expression ‘God’, given its theological and popular implications, and prefers to say ‘Great Architect of the Universe’, an expression which leaves unresolved the question of whether He is Creator or simply Governor of the world.
