Human consciousness is what happens when you get to something like 10^11 neurons and 10^14 synapses. This raises all sorts of other questions: What is consciousness like when you have 10^20 synapses or 10^30? What would such a being have to say to us any more than we would have to say to ants?
Viser 3 svar.
Such a being might say:
"Equating consciousness with neural complexity,
what a brainless remark.."
To which Sagan might reply: "Dear Being of Supreme Intelligence, how fascinating! Do you mean to say that consciousness can actually exist independently from a physical brain?"
Quoth Polycomplexus Socraticus:
I guess you are only guessing concerning my level of 'intelligence'.
I'd be a bit curious about how you would proceed to measure mine.
Btw, I notice that you have had some mental struggle at defining
the concept altogether..
At home we are not that preoccupied with such wobbly concepts,
if you'll excuse my frankness.
Well I could probably do some complex computations faster than you,
like sudoku or chess maybe, however we use digital computers
like you do. Just a few orders more complex.
Anyway feel free to admire me while it amuses you. Just don't have
me confused with God Creator whom you plan to search for, as I take
it from your essay title. We have never seen complexity condensing
into 'mind' or 'spirit', have you? Suspect you have some error of
category there. We have been discussing 'consciousness' for ages:
we support it, but have never been able to derive it from
elementary categories. "That which is born of the Spirit, is spirit."
Hope you find some useful hints in my remarks.
"And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more
in knowledge and in all judgment".
That's from your textbook, I guess you discover-
'Authorized version'.
