Imagine wolves: an hour ago the pack
Hustled a stag, then tore it into shreds.
Now they have gorged upon its haunch
They need a drink to wash their curry down.
So, sniffing out a pool, they loll their long,
Thin, sharp-pointed tongues in it; and as they lap
Piping shadows idle off their chops,
And infiltrate the water like rose smoke.
