A quiet novel about a group of young Native Americans living in a reservation. One of them, in a rather mysterious way, finds himself with a magic guitar. He starts a band with his bullies.
The novel is both about their choices and challenges as much as their world view, their relationship to the wind, their dreams, their place in the family, for example. First and foremost it is about being accepted for the one they are, both in the reservation and in the "white" world.
Considered for vg1 students: not suitable; definitely not a page turner. To me the novel lacks the rising action with enough suspense to continue. Quiet humour.
