The history of Meriwether Lewis and the expedition sent by Thomas Jefferson to explore the American West. Truly a great adventure, described in great detail by a skilled author. The portraying of the American Heroes is less biased than one would expect from an elderly guy sporting a Stetson, still Ambrose repeats to the point of tediousness how the men of the expedition were the first Americans to see this, do that, and so on. But despite a few comic over-emphasizings of this sort, this is a nice piece of historic documentary covering a great and courageous enterprise.
