Omtale fra forlaget
Colourful shipowner Jacob Stolt-Nielsen was born in the Norwegian port of Haugesund in 1931. At the age of 28, he created a new segment for chemical transport using medium-sized tankers - the parcel trade. Acquiring his first ship in 1959, he built up the world's largest chemical tanker company. He was also a pioneer in the offshore and aquaculture industries. His story provides a unique insight into an international business world influenced by an unusual Norwegian and his key employees. Jacob provoked many people in Norway during the 1970s with his views on business policy. He later continued his life as a diversified businessman outside his homeland. Bankruptcy loomed twice in the course of his career, but he survived the crisis on both occasions. This book deals with a complex personality who has been a strong-willed and visionary leader and entrepreneur. It also addresses how to succeed in global business - and avoid the pitfalls.
