Creativity and Problem-Solving in the Context of Business Management takes cognition and managerial thought as its point of departure. These are two lines of research which have both been characterized by an almost explosive development the last 30 years or so. The close relationship between the two lines of inquiry has probably been most evident in the Nobel Prizes of Economy awarded to the psychologists Herbert Simon and Daniel Kahneman. Still, there is also the large output of literature being written on cognition and strategy formulation, innovation and operative problem-solving, just to name a few. The book contains twelve articles written by researchers active in this field of inquiry. The topics of those chapters take up issues within cognitive science and what many refer to as cognitive organizational theory. The book is also a Festschrift in honor of Prof. Dr. philos. Geir Kaufmann for his 60-year anniversary. Willy Haukedal is Professor of Organizational Psychology at the University of Bergen. His main academic interests are related to managerial thought, motivation, and the perception of salary systems and incentives. Bård Kuvaas is Associate Professor at the Norwegian School of Management. His main academic interests are strategic decision-making, cognitive organizational theory, reward systems and motivation.
