Apparently, there are enough temperature scales already, so why still another one? The purpose is mainly to make life easier for those who are concerned professionally with thermodynamics.
The problem with the existing temperature scales is that they were invented at a time when the profound relation between temperature and energy was not known. Now we know, and should draw the consequences. In fact, temperature indicates energy and its unit should be deduced from the energy unit.
Temperature should not possess a basic unit of its own!
