This book discusses the relation between artificial intelligence and law, devoting a special attention to issues involving legal philosophy and legal theory. First the basic notions of artificial intelligence, a historical reconstruction of the development of artificial intelligence in law is then outlined, by concentrating on a few paradigmatic experiences. Some fundamental aspects of the legal applications of artificial intelligence are also examined. Finally, some general issues, concerning prospects and limits of AI in law are discussed.
