Omtale fra Den Norske Bokdatabasen
This book is based on a fieldwork carried out in relation to an AIDS project among the Tonga in southern Zambia. The Tonga associate AIDS with a local disease called kahungo. This helps people make sense of the epidemic, and moreover the association of AIDS with kahungo gives us valuable insight into people's view of the epidemic, of the core values in their society and their view of the larger society that surrounds them. Awareness of such local understandings and reinterpretations is essential for efficent AIDS campaigns. With bibliography.
