Fat Charlie Nancy is not actually fat. He was fat once but he is definitely not fat now. No, right now Fat Charlie Nancy is angry, confused and more than a little scared - right now his life is spinning out of control, and it is all his dad's fault. If his rotter of an estranged father hadn't dropped dead at a karaoke night, Charlie would still be blissfully unaware that his dad was Anansl the spider god. He would have no idea that he has a brother called Spider, who is also a god. And there would be no chance that said brother would be trying to take over his life, flat and fiancee, or, to make matters worse, be doing a much better job of it than him. Desperate to reclaim his life, Charlie enlists the help of four more-than-slightly eccentric old ladies and their unique brand of voodoo - and between them they unleash a bitter and twisted force to get rid of Spider. But as darkness descends and badness begins is Fat Charlie Nancy going to get his life back in one piece or is he about to enter a whole netherworld of pain?

Underholdende og småfinurlig om sønnen til en gud som må forsone seg med at faren hans var noe helt annet enn han trodde. Gjenkjennelig Gaiman fra første til siste side. Lettlest.
Glimrende! Hallo, det er jo Gaiman. :-)
Fat Charlie wondered what Rosie’s mother would usually hear in a church. Probably just cries of ‘Back! Foul beast of Hell!’ followed by gasps of ’Is it alive?’ and a nervous enquiry as to wheather anybody had remembered to bring the stakes and hammers.

Her postcard from Nanking told him that she certainly didn't like what passed for Chinese food in China, and that she couldn't wait to come back to London and eat proper Chinese food.
Songs remain. They last. The right song can turn an emperor into a laughing stock, can bringdown dynasties. A song can last long after the events and the people in it are dust and dreams are gone. That's the power of songs.
In reality the world is made of thousands upon thousands of groups of about five hundred people, all of whom will spend their lives bumping into each other, trying to avoid each other, and discovering each other in the same unlikely teashop in Vancouver.
He had a fine voice, and an excellent smile, and feet that twinkled when he danced.
At one point, he started singing at his desk, not because he was happy, but because he forgot not to.
