I det vi går i gang med tredje og siste del av The Liveship Traders må vi erkjenne at de tre historieforløpene har minimum doblet seg, og det som begynte med en historie om en litt køddete pappakaptein, har vokst til en regionalt geopolitisk og økologisk omkalfatring.

Handelskrig har brutt ut og piraten Kennit er ikke bare klar til å skumme fløten, han er òg skikkelig på ball med det virkelige temaet for bokserien, opprinnelsen av disse levende skipene. Der båtene går gjennom sine eksistensielle tenåringskriser er Kennit tilstede for å viske de fagre ord inn i ørene deres.

Hele persongalleriet i bokserien står og vaker mellom breaking bad eller breaking good, ja omtrent slik som oss som eksisterer utenfor litteraturen gjør. Det kan umulig være mange forfattere som gjør akkurat dette like bra som Robin Hobb.

Det er knapt noe Robin Hobb ikke gjennomfører mesterlig i disse tre bøkene. Selv det å samle trådene i denne siste boken er gjennomført så smidig og elegant at Brandon Sanderson må være helt grønn av misunnelse.

Jeg pleier egentlig å være litt tilbakeholden med de aller flotteste terningkastene. (På flere områder). Men sett bort i fra at Robin Hobb sine bøker krever MYE tid, kan det antageligvis ikke gjøres særlig bedre enn dette.

Så på ekte sjørøvervis triller jeg 2x20 og så 77 på en D100 for disse tre bøkene med veldig mange seilskuter i.
